ROLE

We are seeking an exceptional individual to lead our Product Engineering Team. This critical role pairs with our Lead Product Manager to drive cross-functional projects that directly impact user growth, retention, and overall product excellence. The role spans several domains, including authentication, identity, growth, payments, trust & safety, notifications, and UI/UX. If you thrive in dynamic environments and excel at orchestrating complex product engineering initiatives, this role is for you.

The ideal candidate is passionate about owning a broad scope of responsibilities, adept at switching between diverse challenges, and quick to learn new domains. This role offers significant leadership opportunities, including managing and scaling a team of Tech Leads. Reporting directly to the CTO, the role also involves weekly interactions with the CEO to align on product strategy.

As a key leader within GRVT, you will have substantial autonomy. Once fully ramped up, there will be minimal technical oversight, so the ideal candidate should be confident in leading a team of 8-10 Backend Engineersand 6-8 Web/Mobile Engineers to deliver GRVT’s product vision. This is not a full-stack role, but requires leading a full-stack team. This role provides a rare opportunity to directly influence the company’s product direction, and we are looking for a candidate with the skillset, interest, and passion to drive the team forward.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Leadership:

• Collaborate with the Lead Product Manager to align technical execution with product goals.
• Provide end-to-end technical oversight for product builds, ensuring quality, scalability, and user satisfaction.

Backend Engineering Excellence:

• Lead the design and implementation of robust backend systems, including:
• Authentication and identity services.
• Payment processing and wallet optimization.
• Real-time notification systems.
• Ensure seamless synchronization between smart contracts and internal databases.
• Build and maintain testing frameworks to improve system reliability, and accelerate developer velocity
• Oversee and enhance trust & safety mechanisms.

Team Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Be willing to roll up your sleeves, dive deep into complex technical challenges and serve as an example for the rest of the team
• Guide Frontend and Mobile teams to deliver cohesive product solutions.
• Directly influence user growth and retention through delivering superior UIUX and reliability.
• Act as a mentor and technical leader, setting high standards for engineering excellence.
• Partner with Design, Product, and Data teams to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Engineering Leadership:

• Demonstrated success in leading high-performing technical teams, with experience managing Tech Leads and scaling teams effectively.
• A track record of delivering complex projects on time and ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Technical Expertise:

• Extensive experience in backend engineering, particularly in building scalable and high-performance systems.
• Proficiency in Go, with a strong understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and caching systems (e.g., Redis).
• Ability to oversee full-stack development efforts and provide strategic guidance across frontend and mobile domains.

Product Sense and Impact:

• Strong product thinking with the ability to balance technical priorities with user and business needs.
• Proven ability to influence product direction and contribute to strategies that drive user growth and retention.

Adaptability and Problem-Solving:

• Exceptional ability to navigate ambiguity, learn new domains quickly, and tackle diverse challenges with creativity and efficiency.

Preferred Experience:

• Familiarity with blockchain technologies and financial systems is advantageous but not required.
• A deep interest in GRVT’s mission, with the willingness to engage with our blockchain and zk-powered scaling solutions through onboarding and exploration.
• Experience in specific domains such as payments, wallets, identity, security, and growth are a plus.
